Divers delight in dolphins

The best diving at Ibo is at the light house. It is a long wall dive that covers an area of one square kilometre. Starting at seven metres deep, there are large gardens of coral tables, soft corals, bucket corals, green tree corals and at the wall side it falls away to a coral bottom at 21 metres, where divers are likely to see a good range of tropical fish.

Other dive sites close to Ibo Island are at the southern tip of Matemo Island, (which is the island north of Ibo) and include Kingfish Alley and some fantastic shallow dives at the 19th century coal steamer wreck just north of the sandbank beach.

You may also be lucky enough to see dolphins on the dive and often on the way to and from the dive site by boat.

When it comes to diving with dolphins, Dive Quirimba’s activity centre is very proud to be an Ethical Marine Mammal Campaigner in Mozambique and supporter of the Dolphincare code of conduct. With the help of The Dolphin Centre crew in Ponta Do Ouro, Dive Quirimba’s makes sure that both the diver’s experience and the dolphin’s best interests are being catered for.

So come along to Ibo Island, stay in the lodge, do some dives with Dive Quirimbas, and you will never look back. Make your enquiry here today.
